I became interested in Tai chi while working with a geriatric population in mental health. I had found many medical references suggesting that Tai chi was very helpful to promoting balance and strength in the elderly. I decided that if I was going to recommend a therapy, I should be familiar with the experience….”

“As my strength and coordination improved I noticed changes in my thinking.  Over time, I found myself cutting back on my eating as I became more body conscious. I lost 30 pounds over the last 3 years as my weight was interfering with my moving well. There have been days when I had no energy before class and thought about not going.  I have a hectic schedule and was working on my doctorate so staying home was an easy out. However, I went to class no matter how tired I was.  Once in class, the breathing and movements helped me get focused and energized. I would leave feeling much better than when I arrived. Since I started Tai Chi, I have completed my doctorate.” As she expressed many times that that it was Tai Chi training that helped her go through the challenges of her completion of her doctorate.
